Systemic vulnerability is an internal and essential factor that influences environmental sustainable development capability. Optimizing adjustments on systemic vulnerability significantly contributes to improved function, decreased disturbance, and guaranteed scientific evolution of environmental sustainable development capability. The connotation of systemic vulnerability of environmental sustainable development capability is defined and demonstrated. Measuring indexes, which reflect three aspects such as economic, ecological, and social subsystems, are established. With the application of the entropy-topsis model, statistical data from 1993 to 2012 in China are collected to carry out empirical research. The measuring values on systemic vulnerability are significantly below the standard values. On the basis of further analysis, adjustment strategy can be constituted for decreasing systemic vulnerability and improving environmentally sustainable development capability.
The presented research performed throughout 2001 and 2002 on 4 cross sections of the Mszanka river between its 5+039 km and 5+724 km was aimed at assessing the current state of plants covering the banks of the river (a right side stream of Raba river) whose watercourse underwent regulatory works in 1974, namely a combined bars and water steps engineering was applied. It was revealed that well developed plants lining the watercourse properly protected the river banks from being washed out, despite slightly inconsistent, with regard to varieties, introduction of trees and bushes. Suitability of several varieties of trees and bushes was found high enough for the purpose of biological development in watercourses of rivers with habitat conditions similar to Mszanka river catchment area.
Disproportions of economic, social and environmental in the development of rural areas occur at every level of an administrative division of a country. These disproportions are applicable to the actions which are and should be taken not only to better the economic situation of rural areas, but to increase the standard of living for the villagers as well. The aim of this article is both to identify and to evaluate the infl uence of factors which characterize the level of socio-economic development of environmental sustainability of rural communes in Małopolska Province. Analyses are based on multiple regression model which represents the approach used by Classical Statistics Analysis (enables the observation of the correlation between multi dimensional structures). Research embraces 125 rural communes, with the exception of urban and urban-rural communes, in Małopolska Province. The conducted researches demonstrate that factors of economic nature, particularly the size of own incomes of a commune and means of EU project fi nancing, exert the most powerful infl uence on the level of environmental sustainability of the researched rural communes.
