It is almost impossible to pinpoint the origin of multidiscipline sciences such as ecology, nature conservation. It is equally difficult to attribute these sciences to any one individual. It is most often the case that scientists use the knowledge accumulated in the general scientific heritage. One of such scientists was Edward Janota (1823- 1878), a natural scientist, and an author advocating environmental protection who established natural protection societies.
