The aim of presented studies was to assess in vivo phytocidal effect of different plant extracts on viability of chicpea (Cicer arietinum) as well as their fungicidal effect against the fungus Fusarium oxysporum. Water extracts (macerate, brew, infusion) were prepared from the following herbal plants: Achillea millefolium, Aesculus hippocastanum, Agropyron repens, Althaea officinalis, Coriandrum sativum, Equisetum arvense, Fagus sylvatica, Juniperus communis, Matricaria chamomilla, Pinus sylvestris, Polygonum aviculare, Ribes nigrum. As the control, sterile distilled water was used and also the preparations Grevit 200 SL and Sarfun T 65 DS as a standard (comparatively). Regardless of plant extract preparation method, the best effect was obtained in case of using J. communis fruit extract both on healthiness and viability of C. arietinum. Analysis of variance showed a significant correlation between two analysed factors extract origin and its preparation method, and the most effective extracts (considering all evaluation criteria) were: M. chamomilla macerate, E. arvense brew and J. communis, R. nigrum infusions.
