In four experiments including 300 fatteners, pigs were fed simple diets composed of barley, lucerne meal, mineral and vitamin mixtures and supplemented by various amounts of synthetic L-lysine and/or DL-methionine. Control groups uere fed these diets without amino acid supplementation and also barley supplemented with protein concentrate. Daily gains of pigs fed diets supplemented by protein concentrate uere 643 g (mean for all experiment). Daily gains of pigs fed barley without synthetic amino acids uere 411 g, on diets supplemented - 506 g. The animals fed diets with synthetic amino acids consumed 35% mors of oat units and 9% of total protein/kg gain in comparison uith diet containing protein concentrate.
