Zmiany strukturalne w polskim rolnictwie oraz jego efektywność zależeć będą od zasobności w ziemię i pracę, wyposażenia technicznego i nakładów kapitałowych. Wprowadzenie nowej techniki i technologii do gospodarstw rolnych spowoduje specjalizację w produkcji zwierzęcej i roślinnej, zmiany w strukturze zasiewów i tendencje do uproszczenia zmianowań.
Crop rotation, as a basic farming practice on arable land, has been developing for a long time from farmers' experience and the socio-economic conditions of society. Significant progress was made during the expansion of crop assortments and the subsequent creation of the recurrent farming system in the 18th century. Scientific knowledge of the influence of particular crops and their sequencing on the production capacity of an agricultural system and soil fertility gradually contributed to improvements in crop rotation. Academic Karel Kudrna (a professor at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague) drafted an agricultural system based on a systematic analysis of conditions and results in agriculture in the Czech Republic and in some other European countries between 1960 and 1980. Special emphasis was placed upon crop rotation (crop structure and sequence) related to crop yield level, quality and stability, as well as to the ecological development of an agricultural system in its environment. Selected information on the agricultural problems of agricultural systems in Kudrna's framework are briefly characterized with special consideration given to the theory of crop rotation as a regulator of bioenergetic soil potential.
During the entire period of evolution, the existence of the human population has depended on nature, i.e. on natural, and particularly, on artificial phytocoenoses. In the course of the development of agricultural systems, the species-varied composition of natural stands changed into intensively-cultivated monocultural plant communities. Through his purposeful activities, the farmer has brought these artificial agrophytocoenoses to a high productive efficiency, but also to a considerable breeding risk. Plant cultivars have lost their natural resistance of natural phytocoenoses against harmful factors. In agriculturally advanced countries, the uncertainty of yields was eliminated by rotating crops. From this point of view, the Cyclic sequence of various crops in the fields has become a stabilizing factor of every agricultural system. The criterion of the quality of the system of rotating crops is the level of production, as well as harmony with the landscape in which it is implemented.
The present research covers the time of the second rotation: sugar beet-spring wheat-pea-winter triticale (1999-2002). The investigations were conducted on a very good rye complex soil. A reduced tillage for sugar beet and no-tillage for the other crops in crop rotation result in labor, fuel and energy consumption reduction, as compared with conventional tillage by an average of 50% and expenditure by 42%. The highest energy effectiveness in crop rotation was observed in the system in which sugar beet was cultivated in reduced tillage, and other crops in no-tillage. The effectiveness increases by 135% for conventional tillage for all the crops in rotation. The lowest effectiveness is obtained for conventional tillage with intercrop for sugar beet and pea, and conventional tillage for spring wheat and winter triticale.
