The aim of the study was to evaluate the incorporation of osteochondral autografts and stored allografts into articular cartilage defects in dogs. Eight dogs were used for the examination. The animals were divided into two equal groups. In the first group single osteochondral autografts were transplanted. Stored, single osteochondral allografts were used in the second group. The osteochondral grafting was conducted with Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System sets. Clinical observations and macroscopic and histopathological examinations were performed to evaluate the therapeutic value of both types of grafts. The results obtained indicated that osteochondral autografts and stored allografts were positively incorporated into the recipient cartilage in all dogs.
