The most important distinctive features and some morphological and bionomic characteristic of Liriomyza huidobrensis are presented in this paper.
In the present, the second part of the series titled “Beetles (Coleoptera) of the Rogów region” presents a family of ladybirds (Coccinellidae), as one of the better-known families of beetles occurring in the Rogów area. The faunistic data of presented species enriched by bionomical informations. In addition, the study showed a new species of ladybird for the Polish fauna and it is Nephus (B.) bisignatus (Boh.).
The bionomy and ecology of Amphorophora idaei (Bőrn.) on raspberry was studied under insectary conditions and in two rasberry farm plantations in 1997–2002. In 2001 and 2002 the development and fecundity of A. idaei under controlled conditions were also observed.
The bionomy and ecology of Cinara cupressi on Thuja occidentalis was studied under insectary and controlled conditions. The number of generations per year was determined, as well as the lifespan of a generation, fecundity of the females and demographic characteristics of the population.

The impact of plant shaping on aphid behavior

84%
The paper provides a review of the studies focusing on the impact of plant trimming and pruning (especially in tree rows) and tree crown formation (in orchards and urban greenery) on the bionomy and number of aphids and some other hemipterans. The fresh, succulent shoots which appear after any trimming and pruning provide aphids with "eternal spring" conditions, i.e. the availability of young leaves and shoots preferred by aphids as a source of nutrition. The majority of aphid species acquiring nutrition from leaves feed on the top shoots. People shape garden greenery, forming beautiful, decorative tree crowns. Some shoots in orchards are regularly cut off; sometimes even apple trees are planted in rows. Instead of building traditional fences, hedges are planted and regularly trimmed. Trimmed plants have fresh, succulent shoots, which are an attractive source of nutrition for many aphids. Large numbers of aphids inhabit these rejuvenated plants. Cutting and trimming of plants often have an impact not only on the number of aphids, but also on their bionomy.
The distribution, bionomics and Polish localities of Bombus pyrenaeus PÉREZ are described. Its range and all known stands in Poland are evidenced. The locality in Bieszczady Mts. is the first record of the species for the Polish Eastern Carpathians.
Apple cultivars investigated as new hosts for two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch appeared to provide good environment for its development and reproduction. The best conditions for two-spotted spider mite development were on leaves of cultivars Novamac and Freedom with a net reproduction (Ro) 22.6 and 20.3 respectively, while the worst on cultivars Pioner and Primula with Ro 8.9 and 10.2,respectively.
New records of eleven very rare species of short-tongued bees (Colletidae, Andrenidae and Halictidae) from Poland are given. Their localities in Poland, distribution and bionomics are presented.
