The resistance of 15 bean cultivars to infestation by bean weevil was studied. The relationships between the number of damaged seeds and such cultivar characters as the thickness of seed coat, seed hardness, starch content, size of starch grains and tannin content were studied. It was found that the seeds of cvs. Bor, Atut and Igołomska, characterized by a low starch content, thick cuticule and testa and a high tanin content, were most resistant to Acanthoscelides.
