The ongoing changes, as regards volume and pattern of Polish consumers' demand, related in particular with transformations in the life style and standard, cause, among other things, the need for adjustment of the trade network's assortment and service offer. An illustration of that adjustment is, first of all, the newly launched shopping centres where we may observe ever intensifying trade's specialisation trends. In the Polish market for non-food goods, the most quickly growing are the four groups of specialised stores: 1) the so-called category killers; 2) stores of a subjective and objective specialisation, aimed at servicing the mass customer; 3) brand shops and private-label shops (boutiques) of one or several manufacturers or distributors; 4) the so-called Factory Outlet Centres. Besides, there are occurring dynamical changes within the most currently numerous group of traditional line stores whose offer has permanently been adjusted to the target customers' needs. In his article, the author presents the retail trade specialisation trends in question, illustrating them with examples of significant trade chains both with foreign and domestic capital.
