Background. The use of pesticide leads to the increase in quantity and quality of yields, but may also result in presence of toxic contaminants in food products. Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate presence of pesticide residues in raw agricultural products from the south-eastern region of Poland, to verify their compliance with the maximum residue levels’ (MRLs) as specified in the EU regulations concerning products present in the market, and to assess the acute risk related to consumption of these products. Material and Methods. Samples of raw agricultural products were obtained from production farms as a part of an official premarket monitoring of pesticide residues conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, implemented in cooperation with the regional Inspectorates of Plant Health and Seed Inspection. The scheduled tests covered determination of 243 chemicals included in residue definitions for purposes of pesticide residues monitoring in or on food of plant origin (229 pesticides). Results. In 2015, a total of 328 samples of raw commodities collected from the south-eastern region of Poland were analysed for the presence of pesticide residues. Pesticide residues were detected in 84 samples (25.6%), while in 7 samples (2.1%) they exceeded MRLs. Violations of MRLs concerned 2 samples of Peking Cabbage, 3 samples of dill, 1 sample of raspberry and 1 sample of spinach. The pesticide residues were most often found in: fruit (38.3% of all fruit samples), herbs (35.3%) and vegetables (20.0%). The assessed acute exposure did not exceed the 100% acute reference dose (ARfD) in any sample. Conclusions. Monitoring of pesticide residues in the agricultural crops prevents penetration of products with MRLs exceeded or containing unacceptable pesticide residues into the market, thus protecting consumers’ health.

Quality indicator of agricultural products

86%
These paper proposes a quality indicator of agricultural products. The indicator is computed according to adequate criteria represented by a number of attributes. As an example we present the quantitative assessment of several carrot varieties (harvest of 2002). We analyze the sensory assessment of carrots with the use of a traditional method and with the aid of the quality indicator.
The main aim of this paper is to overview the trends in assistance to agriculture both in developed and developing countries and to compare them with trends in food products trade to verify the hypothesis assuming that although the level of price distorting assistance to agriculture in high-income countries in last three decades has been decreasing, agricultural markets in these economies are not becoming more open for the food products from the developing countries. The empirical analysis is based on the World Bank database on estimates of distortions to agricultural incentives and on the World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS) software. Research results suggest that despite numerous policy reforms both in developed and developing countries, there is still a high rate of assistance to agriculture, especially in high-income economies. Although most of them lowered the price support for food products, it has been partly replaced by assistance decoupled from production. At the same time, some developing countries continue their anti-agricultural bias, but most of them ceased taxing the agricultural sector. What is more, share of developing economies in global food trade is increasing, this trend, however, results mainly from increasing intra-trade between developing economies and not from the liberalization of food markets in developed countries.

In the last decades we could witness an extremely fast spread of IT systems. This is, on the one hand, due to great leaps in technological development, and on the other hand, due to the fact that the data processing needs of enterprises have risen significantly, which is in itself due to accelerated changes in the market and technologies. Nowadays, distributors of the agricultural products do not monitor their customers buying habits, do not measure customer value. My case study shows that there are special companies on the market and they can use the advantages of the CRM system on a very high level. These systems can be developed easily. IT suppliers are adapting to the ever renewing market demands. The paper aims to analyze the importance of CRM system in development of companies operating in the agricultural sector.
