A method of the proscillaridin A quantification, in extracts of U. maritima bulb scales, by means of the TLC/FID analyser Iatroscan TH-10 was elaborated. Three extracts, prepared from the same plant material, were analysed paralelly by the TLC/FID method and by UV spectrophotometry, as described by Steidle and modified by Kaczmarek and Zygmunt. The obtained results were tested statistically. It was proved that the TLC/FID method is nearly of the same precision and reliability as the spectrophotometrical one but is much more simple and faster. The method under investigation is useful in the quantification of the proscillaridin A when the amount of the analysed substance applied to the rod is not less than 0.25 ug.
