Monady, August 7, 2006 is the black date in the history of Sudety forest districts. On this day there was a record-breaking rainfall which had lasted since Friday. Meteorologists accounted that the rainfall in Polana Jakuszycka in Izerskie Mountains was as much as 205 l/m2.
Peat bogs of the “West Sudety” Promotional Forest Complex are considered as the raised and temporary type, they present unique and specific features of mountain peat bogs of sub arctic character. Biggest pig bogs are situated in Reserve of the Izera Valley Peat Bog – the biggest in Poland reserve of mountain peat bogs. On the area of 574 ha bog is found to the depth of ca 2,5 m.
