In 1999-2000, on grey-podsolic soil, at Piwnice (silty light loam) and at Minikowo (light loamy sand) the effect of N doses: 120, 150 and 90 + 60 kg N·ha⁻¹ and adequate amounts of P and K, applied pre-sowing in form of Polifoska 6 and Kemira Beta 14, on sugar beet health was investigated, in comparison to control (no fertilization) and to variant with single fertilizers: ammonium nitrate, triple superphosphate and 60% potassium salt. Nitrogen doses in variants with Polifoska 6 were supplemented with ammonium nitrate. At Piwnice, the Kemira Beta 14 fertilizer, at all doses, decreased percentage of plant infestation by Erysiphe betae and Cercospora beticola in comparison to: control, single fertilizers and Polifoska 6. Kemira Beta 14 and Polifoska 6, at 150 kg N·ha⁻¹ dose, decreased plant infestation by Ramularia beticola in comparison to 90 + 60 kg N·ha⁻¹ dose. Kemira Beta 14 at 90 + 60 kg N·ha⁻¹ dose decreased the number of plants infected by E. betae, more than Polifoska 6. At Minikowo all fertilization variants decreased the percentage of plant infestation by E. betae. Kemira Beta 14 with 150 kg N·ha⁻¹ dose, influenced the decrease of plant infestation percentage by C. beticola. No differences in leaf infestation by C. beticola were observed theand Uromyces betae between the doses of Kemira Beta 14 and Polifoska 6 at both sites.
In 1999 and 2000 on grey podsolic soil at Piwnice and Minikowo the effect of N doses: 120, 150 and 90 + 60 kg N·ha⁻¹ as well as presowing application of respective P and K quantities in form of Polifoska 6 and Kemira Beta 14 on emergence, yield and quality parameters of sugar beet were investigated. Nitrogen doses in combinations with Polifoska 6 were supplemented with ammonium nitrate. In experiments there were also a control object without fertilization and the variant with single fertilizers: ammonium nitrate, triple superphosphate and 60% potassium salt. Similar effects fertilization were observed on both sites. Significant decrease in emergence of sugar beet was found after application of largest single NPK doses. Highest root and sugar yields were obtained at combination with highest fertilization level of Kemira Beta 14 and Polifoska 6 with a split of dose applied presowing (3/5) and as top dressing (2/5). Highest sugar content was stated on the plots without fertilization and with Kemira Beta 14 application. At highest fertilizer rate (with or without split) Kemira Beta 14 caused significantly higher increase of recoverable sugar yield than the Polifoska 6 did.
