New Guinea Impatiens belongs to the group of new, very popular plants used for interior decoration and green areas. One of the most important factors determining the success in cultivation is fertilization. According to some scientists the NGI is a plant very sensitive to salinity. Therefore, foliar application of fertilizers and application of fertilizers in small doses are recommended. These studies were conducted to determine the effects of fertilizers; 1 - Multivit in foliar application; 2 - Azofoska+Multivit; 3 - Osmocote Plus+Multivit; 4 - Osmocote Plus, on the growth, development and blooming of five cultivars of NGI Riviera series produced by the German firm Dümmen. The results showed that the slow-release fertilizers, like Osmocote Plus exert more favourable effects on time of blooming and decorative values of NGI than Multivit and Azofoska. The best results were obtained when Osmocote Plus at 5 g/dm³ dose was applied before planting NGI, somewhat worse results in the case of Osmocote Plus+Multivit application, and the worst at Multivit foliar application.
