The species of the genus Opatroides designated Brullé, 1832 are studied and a key to all species is provided. Lectotypes are designed for Penthicus curtulus Fairmaire, 1892, Penthicus frater Fairmaire, 1896, Penthicus vicinus Fairmaire, 1896 and Opatroides angulatus Baudi, 1875. This taxon is considered to be a geographical subspecies from Syria and Iran of the nominal form, O. vicinus, described from India. Opatroides punctulatus Brullé, 1832 is confirmed to be a widely distributed species, consisting of three geographical subspecies: the nominal form O. punctulatus Brullé, described from Greece, occupying the coast of the Mediterranean Sea; the subspecies subcylindricus Ménétriès, 1849 occupying the Anatolian region, the Middle East, the Caucasus and the Central Asian region; the subspecies lilligi ssp. nov. in the Niger, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Sudan. The status of Opatroides hemistictus Gebien, 1920 from Namibia and South Africa, as a species from belonging to the genus Mesomorphus Seidlitz, 1893, is confirmed. Figures of the habitus and aedeagus for all taxa are given for the first time.
