The beetle Meloë variegatus is a pest of sugar beet, cabbage and winter rye. Its larvae are parasites and pests of solitary bees, but sometimes they get into the nests of the honey bee.
Oxytelus migrator (Staphylinidae), Trichius sexualis (Scarabaeidae), Sitaris muralis (Meloidae), Mycetochara obscura (Alleculidae) and Palorus subdepressus (Tenebrionidae) are reported as new to the Polish fauna. The collection data of these five species are discussed against the background of their ecology and general distribution. Additionaly, a new localities of Trogoderma angustum (Dermestidae), a species recently added to the fauna of Poland is presented. Male genitalia of M. obscura are described and illustrated.
