First mentions of Krakow have been recorded as early as 10th century. In 1257, Prince Bolesław the Bashful decided to „create a city of Krakow” - a new charter was granted to the town of Krakow. The 750th anniversary of the act falls on June 2007. Owing to the heritage status of the city, Krakow is visited by a few million of domestic and international visitors every year. The preservation of the natural heritage and architectural space has become a priority number one for the city authorities. The Mayor discusses the ranking of the city in Europe and the world, its hotel base, state of the infrastructure, science, industry and the current and prospective development work.
