Four multicomponent fertilizers of similar nitrogen content (produced by Hydro Co.) were selected for the studies: Kristalon Specjal, Kristalon Blau, Kristalon Lila and Kristalon Azur; also Azofoska, a fertilizer used for a long time in the production of cyclamens was applied. The fertilizers were used for preparation of the medium for sowing, pricking, as well as for further nutrition of young plants. Two experiments were established. In one of them, the effect of mentioned fertilizers was evaluated from the date of sowing cyclamen Margo cultivar (21.02.1997) to the final stage of seedling production. In the second experiment 6 cultivars were applied: Bemina, Krist, Margo, Marzena, Mikola, Monika. Here, the mentioned fertilizers were used for nutrition of the plants after pricking. The seedlings were pricked 12 weeks after sowing into multi-top pallets, and the fertilization applied once a week was began 4 weeks later. Eight top dressings were applied with gradually increasing concentrations from 0.05 to 0.15%. The studies were terminated on the 8th of August 1997, and the quality of seedlings was evaluated on the basis of leaf number, tuber diametr and green mass of the plants. The type of applied fertilizer affected the growth of young cyclamen plants. The greatest total fresh weight and tuber diameter were obtained by the plants grown in the medium with Azofoska addition and top dressing with the same fertilizer. Among the fertilizers of the Kristalon group, a beneficical influence was exerted by Kristalon Lila and Kristalon Specjal.
