New data are given on 45 species from 10 families of Macrolepidoptera for the province of Pomerania (northern Poland). 11 species (indicated by * in the species list) have been recorded in this region for the first time in over 100 years or for the first time ever.
72 butterfly species have been recorded from the western part of Opolska Plain. Most species (over 40) are associated with the following plant communities: Querco roboris-Pinetum, Geranion and Molinion. The highest similarity (52.2%) was that between the butterfly fauna of Leucobryo-Pinetum and Querco roboris-Pinetum, and lowest (average 3.3%) between Phragmitetalia and the remaining plant communities.
49 species belonging to the families Nymphalidae, Lycaenidae, Pieridae, Hesperiidae and Papilionidae were found in „Uroczysko Lipnik” and made about 28% of the total number of Rhopalocera species ever reported from Poland. In the study area found to be present Lycaena dispar. It is the only one protected species of Rhopalocera occurring in the study area.
Papilionoidea of the Biebrza valley were investigated. 93 species of Rhopalocera were found which makes 59.1% species recorded from Poland. The Biebrza National Park is a notable area with respect to protection of butterflies species in Poland.
