Two new species of Sogana Matsumura, 1914: S. condaoana sp. nov. and S. cucphuongana sp. nov., both from Vietnam are described and illustrated. The species are compared with S. longiceps Fennah, 1978. A key to the species from Vietnam and a distribution map are provided. The genus now contains 10 species. The records of S. longiceps from China are considered as erroneous.
A list of 18 species of the planthopper family Issidae known from Vietnam is given. Pseudochoutagus rubens sp. nov. is described from Northern Vietnam. New records for Macrodcirumu pertinax Fennah, 1978 and Euxaldar jehucal Fennah, 1978 are provided. Convergence in body shape for the issid genera Pseudochoutagus Che, Zhang et Wang, 2011 and Choutagus Zhang, Wang et Che, 2006 and for the genus Philagra Stål, 1863 (Aphrophoridae) is mentioned for the first time.
The Australian genus of Eurybrachidae (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha) Nirus Jacobi, 1928 is redescribed and reviewed. Lectotype and paralectotype for Nirus corticeus Jacobi, 1928 are designated. The male genitalia is illustrated and photos of habitus and distribution map are provided.
A new species of Polydictya Guérin-Méneville, 1844, P. duffelsi sp. nov., is described from Sumatra and illustrated. The species is compared with the other Polydictya species showing hind wings red basally and an identification key to those species is proposed. Hind wing colour variation is reported for P. chantrainei Nagai et Porion, 2004 and the species is mentioned for the first time from Myanmar and Laos. A distribution map is given for P. duffelsi and P. chantrainei.
A new species of the family Flatidae (Sisciini) Phlebopterum tapiae sp. nov. from Madagascar is described and illustrated. Additionally, environmental affinities of newly described species are discussed. A key to all Madagascan Phlebopterum Stål species is also provided.
Tragediana chusqueae gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Andes and Nahuelbuta mountains in the south central zone of Chile. The genus is associated with Chusquea Kunth (Poaceae: Bambusoideae), and is characterized in part by having completely paired carinae on eumetope, a feature present in only a few genera among Delphacini.
The Palaearctic genus Shadelphax Ding, 2006 (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Delphacidae: Delphacinae: Delphacini) is taxonomically reviewed to include two species: S. eforiae (Dlabola, 1961) (China: Neimenggu, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang; Mongolia; Kazakhstan; Ukraine; Middle Asia) and S. kashiensis sp. nov. (China: Xinjiang). The genus Shadelphax is redefined. The main morphological characters including the male genitalia of the two species are described or redescribed and illustrated.
The paper describes a new flatid genus, Peyrierasus gen. nov., and a new species P. philippiae sp. nov. from Anosyan mountains of southeastern Madagascar. Additionally, the illustrations of the female internal genital structures are provided.
The monotypie Australian planthopper Busas Jacobi, 1909 with type species Busas dissolutus Jacobi, 1909 is redecribed. The taxonomical placement of Busas (in Gaetullini) and generic status of Busas and Paralasonia as valid taxa are confirmed. Paralasonia australis Muir, 1924 is recorded for the first time from New South Wales in Australia.
A new extraordinary monotypie genus of Ricaniidae is described from Mahé Island (The Seychelles archipelago) with a new species Mahecania trinigromaculata gen. et sp. nov. Photographs, drawings and SEM images are presented. Discussion is provided on unique and rare characters presented for this genus.
