A new genus of dorylaim nematodes, Kunjudorylaivms gen. nov. along with two new species belonging to the Superfamily Dorylaimoidea, are described from Karnataka, India. The new genus has a peculiar body posture which is straight in its anterior part but curved posteriorly; lips are rounded, lip region is smooth and continuous with body, labial papillae are not raised; amphids are bilobed, fovea duplex; cardiac disc is present; female reproductive organs are amphidelphic; ventromedian supplements are weakly developed and spaced; and tails are long filiform in both sexes. The type species, K. kunjui sp. nov. is 2.0-2.4 mm, odontostyle 20-22 µm, odontophore 31-34 µm, spicules 32-37 µm long, prerectum in females 4-6 anal body widths long and ventromedian supplements numbering 11-13. K. srinii sp. nov. is 1.6-1.9 mm, odontostyle 15-16 µm, odontophore 23-25 µm, spicules 29-31 µm long; prerectum in females 3-4 anal body widths long and ventromedian supplements numbering 8-10.
Three new and a known species of Aporcelaimus are reported and described from Alaska, all belonging to the smaller representatives (3 to 5 mm) of the genus. A. boreus sp. nov. resembles A. superbus (de Man, 1880), but it differs by longer spear and spicula, and number and arrangement of male supplements. A. brzeskii sp. nov. differs from species having some of the supplements within the range of spicula by longer body and much longer spicula. A. femineus sp. nov. is characterized by arrangement of pharyngeal gland nuclei, mammillated egg shells and lack of sperm in uterus of gravid females. A. conicaudatus Altherr, 1953 is redescribed, and its taxonomic position discussed. A list of the know terrestrial nematode species in Alaska is added.
European populations of Aporcella vitrinus, mainly collected in natural habitats of southeastern Iberian Peninsula are studied and described, including SEM observations and the first report of the male. They are characterized by its body 1.20-1.86 mm long, lateral chord bearing gland bodies, lip region offset by weak constriction and 11-13 µm broad, odontostyle 12-13 /µm long, neck 333-374 fim long, pharyngeal expansion 149-185 µm long or 44-51% of total neck length, uterus simple and 28-48 /µm long or 0.6-1.2 times the corresponding body diameter, pars refringens vaginae absent, V = 48-53, tail convex conoid (21-31 µm, c = 45-77, c' = 0.9-1.4), spicules 43 µm long, and six irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements with hiatus. European specimens are compared to type American ones, but do not differ significantly from these although morphometrical ranges are wider in European material. SEM pictures show a symmetrically biradial lip region pattern, totally similar to that found in Aporcelaimellus.
