The objective of the paper is to present the changes in capital resources (in the form of foreign direct investment), which were located in the Czech food industry and the assessment of development trends in the inflow of FDI into the food industry in the years 2002-2011. The analyses conducted show that in the period considered, the Czech food industry was neglected by foreign investors, if compared with other manufacturing industries. The cumulative value of foreign investment in this industry estimated at the end of 2011 amounted to EUR 2.3 billion, which accounted for 7.9% of the capital resources (in the form of FDI) invested in the manufacturing sector.
The paper deals with contractual relationships within the commodity verticals. The first part of the paper qualifies theoretical considerations - the alternatives of contractual relationships in commodity chains in general. Problems of contracts and cooperation after transition in the Czech Republic are characterized in the second part of the paper. The methods of contracting are shown on the example of the wheat commodity chain in the Czech Republic.
The aim of the paper is to present the findings about the trend in agricultural investments, property structure, especially long-term assets, of the agricultural enterprises between 2000 and 2005 and about the possibilities of investments financing in agriculture. An unfavourable financial situation of agricultural enterprises prevailing up to 2003 resulted in shortage of the capital resources for the agricultural investments needed for the technical and technological changes that would lead to the competitiveness improvement of the Czech agriculture. The economic results of agricultural sector in 2005 and preliminarily also in 2006 stand for the success in keeping positive trends in final economic indicators of Czech agriculture after the accession to the European Union.
Estimating the value of public construction works in Poland and the Czech Republic. The article outlines the legislation concerning the methodology of estimating the value of works in Poland and the Czech Republic. In both countries it is necessary for the public investor to respect the law governing public procurement, which defines the structure of compulsory documents needed for the tender documentation, but not directly the way of their preparation. In both countries, though, there exist model proceeding schedules for the calculation of the value of a public procurement for construction works. To illustrate and compare the calculation methods a sample calculation of the procurement value is presented for a selected thermal efficiency improvement project.

Determination of the biomass of Pinus mugo stands

75%
The dwarf pine stands on unoriginal sites in mountainous areas of the Czech Republic are a current topic of scientific discussion. One of these sites is on the summits of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. Various proposals for dwarf pine removal have been hindered by the absence of charts or tables that could be used to calculate how much biomass would need to be removed. Therefore, we created a methodology for dwarf pine biomass determination and applied it to five research transects of different ages. Based on the biomass estimates, we created trend curves illustrating the increase in biomass (dependent on age) as well as equations that could be used to roughly estimate the biomass of any dwarf pine stand, regardless of age or canopy level, for sites above the timberline in Hrubý Jeseník Mts. The equations for biomass calculations could also be applied to other mountain ranges where artificially planted dwarf pines of the same seed origin or the same morphological appearance as those existing in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. are found.
In the Czech Republic, Norway spruce has a natural representation in all forest altitudinal vegetation zones, in some of which (FAVZ 1, 2 and 9), however, it is scarce. The three basic climatic ecotypes of spruce identified in the Czech territory, i.e. an upland ecotype, a higher elevation ecotype and a mountain ecotype, can be characterised on the basis of the forest altitudinal vegetation zones of their origin. The paper presents the breeding work completed so far and all the breeding programmes implemented for Norway spruce, including projects worked out for the Krkonoše National Park.
