Our paper proposes the evaluation of 5 select water bodies in Kraków (Bagry, Zakrzówek, Przylasek Rusiecki, and Kolna, and in the District of Krakóws water bodies formerly known as Kryspinów, currently “Zalew na Piaskach”). Their recreational values were assessed based on expert evaluation of 8 characteristics with the use of Saaty’s method to attribute weight to each characteristic. SWOT analysis was also applied, focussing on the problem of uncontrolled tourism. Kryspinow, Przylasek Rusiecki, and Kolna received the highest and very similar grades in terms of tourist attractiveness (2.475, 2.447, and 2.444, respectively), Bagry was slightly less attractive (2.224), and Zakrzówek received the worst score (0.796) due to its difficult access and lack of facilities.
Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) is an aromatic and medicinal perennial herb native to Southern Europe and temperate regions of Asia. The study aimed to determine the effect of different plant parts harvested at different flowering stages: pre-flowering, full-flowering and post-flowering, in some agronomical characteristics, essential oil yield and components of hyssop plant in semi-arid climatic conditions of South Eastern Anatolia, Diyarbakir, Turkey. The results showed that both flowering stages and plant parts had important effects on fresh, dry herbage, dry leaf yield of hyssop, as well as essential oil content. It was concluded that under semi-arid climatic conditions, hyssop plant could be grown successfully in conformity to the limits of ISO standards and harvest from top parts of the plants at full flowering stage could be preferred for maximum dry leaf yield and essential oil contents.
Chrysanthemum is one of the most important ornamental plants growing under covers in Poland but it is often infected by soil fungi. Investigations were carried out in 1999-2001 (summer and autumn) in 9 horticultural farms in Sandomierz district. Plants with symptoms of stem and root rot, leaves yellows and wilt were noticed on the investigated plantations. The results of mycological analysis showed that chrysanthemum plants were colonized by Fusarium spp., Cylindrocarpon spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Sclerotinia spp. and Alternaria spp. Among isolated fungi Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium avenaceum and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum were predominating pathogenic species. Cv. Snowdon was colonized by pathogens most frequently, while the population of pathogenic fungi from cv. Royalys was the lowest.
