Theme of the IX European Congress of Agricultural Economists, held in Warsaw on 24-28 August 1999 was: „European agriculture facing the 21st century in a global context". The congress gathered almost 500 participants from 35 countries. They presented 253 papers in all types of congress sessions, including poster sessions. The new type of the congress sessions were '"organized sessions". One of the plenary session was devoted to the Polish agriculture. The most popular topic discussed by authors in their papers was: agricultural policy, prices and income issues (29.1% of the papers) followed by environmental aspects of agricultural production (11%).
