Root parsley, besides the carrot and celeriac, is one of the main root vegetables grown in Poland. Since many years the producers observe irregular emergence of parsley cultivated in the field and then as a result - low yields of the roots. The reasons of low parsley emergence and the ways of its improvement were discussed in the article with a special regard to seed quality, pre-sowing tillage, depth and date of sowing and soil properties. Most attention was given to the problem of soil crusting and the methods of its prevention.
