Jaworzno III power Plant with 6 power units of the total capacity of 1240 MW is one of the most modern and the largest Polish generation unit-based power plants. It is fuelled mainly with coal from mines located in Jaworzno, with high sulphur and ash contents. Ash content is a parameter which determines quantity of generated furnace waste. As the power plant stores the waste in mine workings, it monitors the waste in terms of its physical and chemical properties and radioactivity. The ash generated in the power plant does not pose the risk of radioactive contamination: its potential environmental risk is also low. The ash meets requirements of the standard for hydraulic filling. It can be also used in underground work in mines.
