The activation energy of swelling beech wood (Fagus sylvatica L.) in water. This paper shows the results of the activation energy of swelling beech wood in water. The results showed that activation energy depends on the density. Increasing that values increase activation energy of swelling.
A general dependence of the enzyme catalytic rate on its mass was revealed when a statistical analysis of 17065 records from the EMP database was performed. The estimated activation energy of the catalytic process decreases asymptotically with the enzyme molecular mass increase. The proposed theoretical model postulates the existence of an intermediate complex of the enzyme and the departing product. It allows for the explanation of the discovered mass-energy relationship, as an effect of the global enzyme-product interactions during complex dissociation. Fitted parameters of the model seem to be in agreement with those widely accepted for the van der Waals energy of molecular interactions. Their values also agree with the picture of the hydrogen bonding in the catalytic process and suggest that surface walk can be the favorable way of the product departure.
The temperature dependence of the activity and structure of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase was studied. The Arrhenius plot shows a jump which is seen usually in proteins with more than one subunit or with one subunit but more than one domain. Since carbonic anhydrase has only one subunit with one domain, the fine conformational changes of the protein motifs could only be detected through circular dichroism polarimetry. It seems that the jump in Arrhenius plot is a result of some slight structural changes in the secondary and tertiary structures of the enzyme.
Waste fat is an integral part of the processing of animal by-products in rendering plants. The flow behavior and time-dependent flow properties of waste fat in the temperature range of 10ºC, 20ºC, 30ºC, and 62ºC was studied. Waste fat presented non-Newtonian behavior. Three mathematical models were used for prediction of the flow behavior of waste fat, including the Casson, Steiger-Ory, and Herschel-Bulkley models. The Herschel-Bulkley model sufficiently described the flow behavior of the waste fat at different temperatures. Several kinds of rheological curves were determinated for description of the flow behavior. Rheopectic behavior of rendered fat was determinated at temperatures lower than 30ºC.
The activation energy of swelling sap of pine wood (Pinus sylvestris L.) in water. This paper shows the results of the activation energy of swelling sapwood of pine wood in water. The results showed that activation energy value range from 4.8 to 10.7 kJ/mol. It is also noted that its depend on the density.
