Field experiments were conducted in 2008–2009 to investigate the influence of different preparations controlling the plant ripening process on seed shedding and yielding of Lolium multiflorum cv. Turtetra in the first year of utilization. The treatments, applied in growth stage BBCH 75, determined the tensile strength of rachilla, susceptibility to kernels shedding and consequently seed yield. The application of Elastiq 550 EC and Spodnam 555 SC increased significantly the tensile strength of rachilla in BBCH 87 and decreased the amount of shedded kernels after harvesting of L. multiflorum. These effects were not found after the application of Reglone 200 SL and Harvade 250 SC. The highest increase (20.9%) of the seed yield was obtained in the case of Elastiq 550 EC application.
