W doświadczeniu laboratoryjnym badano wpływ różnego stężenia cynku (2 mg, 4 mg, 40 mg i 400 mg Zn/1 dm3 ) dodanego do pożywki na rozwój szczepów Rhizobium leguminosarum i na aktywność ich dehydrogenaz, natomiast w doświadczeniu wegetacyjnym testowano działanie tych samych stężeń Zn na plonowanie bobiku i na aktywność mikrobiologiczną gleby. W wyniku badań stwierdzono, że wzrastające stężenie cynku w podłożu wpływa dodatnio na namnażanie się szczepów R. leguminosarum i ujemnie na aktywność ich dehydrogenaz. Skażenie gleby nadmierną ilością cynku może hamować rozwój bobiku, zmniejszać aktywność enzymów glebowych i naruszać równowagę biologiczną gleby.
