Badania przeprowadzono w latach 2001-2003 w Stacji Hodowli Roślin w Skrzeszowicach koło Krakowa (220 m n.p.m.), na czarnoziemie zdegradowanym wytworzonym z lessu. Doświadczenie założone metodą losowanych bloków w czterech powtórzeniach, użytkowano przez okres dwóch lat. W badaniach uwzględniono dwie odmiany tymotki łąkowej 36 SE (SKALA) i 50 SE (SKALD), zalecane do uprawy w rejonie Małopolski o zróżnicowanych cechach użytkowych. Badania miały na celu ocenę tych odmian pod względem przydatności na paszę dla zwierząt, poprzez porównanie w nich zawartości Zn, Cu, Ni, Fe i Mn, w fazie pełni kłoszenia w źdźbłach, liściach oraz w kwiatostanach. Zawartość analizowanych pierwiastków u odmian tymotki łąkowej 36 SE oraz 50 SE była zależna od odmiany i organu. Średnia ważona ilość wybranych składników u badanych odmian tymotki łąkowej mieściła się w przedziale 20,7-43,9 mg Zn, 3,73-8,56 mg Cu, 1,48-2,88 mg Ni, 31,1-87,9 mg Fe, 16,9-50,9 mg Mn·kg⁻¹ s.m. Źdźbła oraz liście odmiany 50 SE cechowały się wyższą zawartością Zn, Cu, Fe i Mn niż odmiany 36 SE. Odwrotną zależność stwierdzono w przypadku Ni, gdzie źdźbła i liście odmiany 36 SE były zasobniejsze w ten mikroelement. Zawartość Zn, Cu, Ni i Mn w kwiatostanach odmiany 50 SE była wyższa w porównaniu z odmianą 36 SE, zaś poziom Fe w kwiatostanach był wyższy u odmiany 36 SE. We wszystkich organach obu odmian tymotki łąkowej zawartości Cu oraz ilości Fe w liściach i kwiatostanach były zbliżone do optymalnych. Natomiast koncentracja Zn i Mn kształtowała się poniżej ilości uznawanych za wystarczające. Zawartość Ni zawierała się w przedziale poniżej wartości dopuszczalnych dla roślin przeznaczonych na paszę.
