This paper deals with the end-users’ attitudes towards print and digital information and preferences to use print or digital media. Results of pilot questionnaire survey showed that while digital media are preferred to be used for writing, printed media are still favoured for reading. Furthermore, users are rather traditional in storing written information in a printed form. The statistical tests carried out confirmed hypothesis that there are differences in preferences between defined groups of respondents categorised by gender, age and level of education.
This paper deals with the analysis of material inputs and production in the pulp and paper industry in Slovakia. It provides insight into the structure of raw material inputs for pulp production as well as the structure of industry production. The analysis is based on data from 2009. Using the principles of material flow analysis, the main relations between the consumption, production and trade are highlighted. The Slovak pulp and paper industry is principally based on the use of domestic raw wood material as well as resources of domestic recovered paper, however, the increasing production capacities source inputs in imports. Even if the domestic consumption of paper is relatively high at 90 kg per capita, the majority of paper produced in Slovakia is exported.
This paper deals with the issue of wood material flow analysis in the Slovak Republic. Theoretical approaches of monitoring wood flows as well as partial results and ideas for future research in this area are outlined.

Additionally, it explains the theoretical background of property and use rights relating to the forest outputs and forest use and the main aspects of these rights that influence contract conditions. Last chapter is dedicated to the description of the present conditions in forestry contracting at the European market.
This paper deals with the determination of end user attitudes towards different ways of wood utilisation. The preferences of consumers for the selected wood properties in comparison with substitute materials were assessed for the area of joinery products and furniture used in households. The survey was carried out using a questionnaire survey of the selected sample in the Slovak Republic and in Poland. The research identified competitive properties of wood and compared preferences of consumers for wood in both countries.
