The study was an attempt to determine the prospects of successful introduction of selected woody plant species of Hamamelidaceae family to climatic conditions of Central Poland. Phenological observations concerning vegetative and generative aspects of development were carried out in the years 2003-2005 on 22 taxa (belonging to 8 genera) from different proveniences, cultivated in Warsaw University of Life Sciences Arboretum in Rogów (USDA Frost Hardiness Zone 6b). On the basis of the gathered data we depicted simplified phenological spectra based on the Shennikov method presenting mean values from 3-years observations. Measurements of the height of investigated taxa were performed once in 2008. Some of these measurements were compared to data collected for plants growing in Arboretum in Glinna situated in north-western part of Poland (USDA Frost Hardiness Zone 7a). Based on our results the investigated taxa could be assigned to the group promising for cultivation or maladjusted to the climate of Central Poland which introduction is limited and the cultivation in greens and gardens seems aimless.
