This paper presents final results of E!2968 EUREKA – ECOLOGICALDOCK project sponsored by the Polish State Scientific Research Commit-tee. The consortium established for realization of the project is presented, ecological hazards are characterized, the most important legal regulations are specified,as well the design of the ecological floating dock SINE212CDand a concept of conversion of the existing dock SINE 126CD to the class CLEAN is characterized. The paper also contains the complete bibliography of the elaborations done within the project. More information can be found on the web page www.oce.pg.gda.pl/oce2/eureka . This paper opens the series of the selected publications on various problems solved in the frame of the project, which are presented below
The paper outlines the origin of the E.2772! project from the EUREKAgroup of European projects. Justification of undertaking the subject is given as well as the structure of institutional performers constituting the project executive consortium. Characterised is the final result in the form ofpreliminary designs of four modern ecological Baltic short shipping vessels: container carrier, product tanker, ro-ro ship and river-sea type ship.Comprehensive bibliography contains a list of all the project reports, which may be made available to the interested parties after a contact with the project coordinator. The paper opens a series of topical papers selected from the different problems dealt with in the project
A new generation of inland environmentally friendly ships destined for waterways with critical limited depth is presented. Generalproject concepts are supported by push system idea of standardized, optional equipped hulls for desirable exploitation necessities. A few traditional motor ships and barges are described as the background for comparison
This paper presents a design concept of a novel passenger segment ship intended for navigating on Berlin- -Królewiec (Kaliningrad) inland waterway route, characteristic of application novel structural materials and engineering processes which make it possible to design structures in an innovative way and provide high operational merits for inland waterways ship. Conceptual, functional and technical assumptions for the designed ship as well as its service program was described. Exceptional features of the designed ship are : the general architectural concept which makes the ship free passing under small-clearance bridges and navigating in narrow and shallow waterways, possible, manufacturing technology of its hull structure made of „sandwich” panels as well as its combustion-electric engine (or combustion-hydraulic engine) propulsion system working on alternative ecological gas fuels
