The aim of investigation was to understand the effect of herbicide application on residues in soil, seeds and straw of winter oilseed rape. Field experiments were carried out during five-yearperiod (2005–2009) on arable field in south-west of Poland. Herbicides for weed control in winter oilseed rape (containing active substances: clopyralid, clomazone, alachlor, quizalofop-P-ethyl, fluazifop-P-buthyl, dimetachlor, metazachlor, napropamide and propyzamide) were applied at recommended doses. Samples of soil, seeds and straw of winter oilseed rape were taken for analyses at the day of harvest. All samples were analysed (herbicide residues) using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection or gas liquid chromatography (GLC) with ECD detection. At the harvest time, in soil, seeds and straw of winter oilseed rape samples residues of herbicide active substances were detected. Residues of all active substances of herbicides detected in soil were higher than in seeds of winter oilseed rape. Residues of active ingredient of herbicides determined in seeds did not exceed acceptable amounts defined in standards (MRL). At the harvest time, average 87% of soil, seeds and straw of winter oilseed rape samples residues were not detected or its concentration was on detectable limit level.
