Asian cultures attach great importance to the forces of nature and human sensory and emotional sensitivity. Life based on symbiosis underpins Asian civilisation. Such approach shows great respect for nature, the beauty created by it. The Japanese feel they are only, a particle of nature; thus, the natural consequence of such approach to the world is the feeling of materialised space, while Europeans treat space as emptiness. Architectural space is treated as a visual continuity, without separating it from its surroundings: in contrast, its values are used for the creation of the interior and exterior world. The author presents these issues using architectural works by Kisho Kurokawa as an example.
