A field study was carried out between the years 2008–2009 at the Research Station Swadzim that belongs to Poznań University of Life Sciences. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of tillage system and previous crop on the changes in infestation and species compositions in spring barley. As compared to the traditional tillage, direct drilling increased over 100% mass of weeds per unit area. Number of weeds was higher by 60% and more on the plots with direct drilling. There was significant influence of previous crop on number of weeds in spring barley. Number of weeds was 40% higher when spring barley was cultivated after fodder beet compared to the plots where spring barley was cultivated after maize. The dominance species were: Viola arvensis, Chenopodium album, Senecio vulgaris, Geranium pusillum, Anthemis arvensis, Matricaria maritima, Lycopsis arvensis, Brassica napus and Echinochloa crus-galli. There was no significant influence of previous crop on values of dominance index (C). Significant higher value were recorded on the treatments with spring barley cultivated with conventional tillage technology. Higher values of Shannon’s biodiversity index (H) were obtained on the treatments where spring barley was cultivated in direct drill after maize crop and also after fodder beet crop when ploughing cultivation system was applied.
The knowledge on the ichthyofauna community in forest complexes in our country is mainly limited to few information on fish species found in rivers and reservoirs located in the protected areas. Hence, the aim of present study was to evaluate the importance of forested and non−forested areas, which include small rivers, on the occurrence of fish communities. The main criteria of evaluation were species richness, biodiversity and density of fish from rivers located in forested and non−forested areas in Roztocze and Puszcza Solska (south−eastern of Poland). The 12 study sites in the two groups of small rivers located on forested and non−forested areas were chosen (tab. 1). The control fishing was performed by electrofishing using IUP−12 gear. The total of 779 individuals of fish and lamprey belonging to 22 species were caught during the study. In the sections of rivers located in non−forested areas we noted 18 species, while in the rivers in forested areas – 16 ones. The analysis of the abundance domination showed that the dominant species in the rivers sections on non−forested areas were perch, roach and gudgeon, while in rivers located in forested areas: gudgeon, dace and brown trout. Simultaneously, in abundance of fish fauna from rivers in forested area a significant share of eastern sculpin, burbot and European brook lamprey were noted. The fish communities from both habitats showed similar values of biological diversity indices, but slightly higher density was observed in the rivers located in non−forested areas. The fish species composition was highly dependent on the close surroundings of the watercourse and the type of riparian zone. For the habitats from river located in non−forested areas the common, associated with aquaculture and also invasive fish species were characteristic. However, in the rivers in wooded areas, the typical for small streams and the rheophilic fish species were more frequent. The results of present study showed, that the largest differences in the dominance in fish structure and indicators of fidelity to the habitat preferences between the groups of rivers were determined.
The aim of this study was to present the relationship between soil properties and biodiversity indexes in upland fir (Abies alba) forest associations (Abietetum albae). Our study was conducted in six areas representing the growth conditions of upland fir forests and the research plots were located in the Roztoczański and Świętokrzyski National Parks as well as Przedbórz, Radomsko, Piotrków and Janów Lubelski Forest District. On every plot, the topography was described, soil cores were examined and samples for laboratory analysis were taken. The following characteristics were determined for the soil samples: pH, C, N, Ca, Mg, Na and K content, particle size, exchangeable acidity, aluminum content and hydrolytic acidity. Additionally, enzyme activity in the soil samples (urease and dehydrogenase) was measured. In each test area, the stand characteristics were measured (diameter at breast height and height) floristic characteristics were described and the biodiversity indexes (Shannon, Simpson and Margalef indexes) were calculated. Different soil types (Gleysols, Brunic Arenosols, Gleyic Podzols and Hyperdistric Cambisols) were recorded for the investigated forest stands and the soils were categorized according to soil texture, C content, enzyme activity and different humus types (moder-mor, moder, moder-mull). The upland mixed coniferous forest sites were characterized by lower biodiversity indexes (2,6 Shannon index; 0,72 Simpson index; 4,9 Margalef index) while the upland mixed broadleaf forest sites showed higher indexes (3,3 Shannon index; 0,87 Simpson index; 9,4 Margalef index). The site index obtained for the fir stands confirmed these results.
Projekt badawczy „Ocena stanu środowiska na Obszarach Szczególnie Narażonych w województwie wielkopolskim" zrealizowano w ramach współpracy Instytutu Ochrony Roślin - Państwowego Instytutu Badawczego z Wojewódzkim Ośrodkiem Doradztwa Rolniczego w Poznaniu. Projekt dofinansował Wielkopolski Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska Celem wykonywanych analiz w ramach projektu była ocena szeregu elementów środowiska rolniczego stanowiących wskaźniki różnorodności przyrodniczej i stanu fitosanitarnego upraw.
