The investigation was carried out on the usable parts of dill plants, cultivars Amat, Ambrozja, and Lukullus, grown from spring to autumn. Dill seeds were sown on 10th April, 10th May, 10th June, 10th July, and 10th August 2000. Harvesting was conducted when the dill plants reached the height of 25-cm i.e. after 36-45 days, depending on the cultivar and period of cultivation. The content of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophylls, and volatile oils was determined in the leafy part and in leaves with petioles of dill.
Raw material obtained from the cultivated area contains very high amount of volatile oil, i.e. from 2.27 to 3.04%. Significant percentage of monoterpene alcohols and their acetates, indicate high quality of the oil. The investigated lavender flowers collected in Miechów district, represent valuable herbal products in respect to their quality, and comparable to those cultivated in the Mediterranean region.
Crithmum maritimum L. (sea fennel) is a medicinal and useful species growing widely at the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and of the Atlantic Ocean. All the parts of the plant contain essential oil. Crithmiherba has antimicrobial, antioxidant and spasmolitic properties. During this research fruits and leaves collected from various geographic regions were ana/ysed, such as dry plants cultivated in garden in Poland (some of them belonging to a control group, and some treated by Ti ions, the main compound in the Tytanit foliar fertiliser) and biomass obtained from plantlets germinating from seeds of different origins and growing on selected media in an in vitro culture. The material was examined with respect to the content and composition of essential oils and concentration of tested minerals. Non-coding chloroplast intergenic spacer trnL (UAA) - trnF (GAA) was sequenced to check if there is genetic variability in the tested material. The total content of essential oil was determined by steam water distillation, and a quantitative analysis was performed by gas cVvvomatogvapUy. AW the samples (Meted in the quality and quantity of volatile oils and in content of micro- and macroelements. It was noticed that the growth, development and chemical composition of C. maritimum plantlets depended not only on the type of the culture medium but also on the origin of seeds. All the analysed DNA sequences were entirely uniform, which seems to be contrary to the phytochemical findings.
We describe the reaction of Umbelliferae family plants caused by Ti, Mn and Cu ions application. The studied material was: Crithmum maritimum L. after fertilization with 0.04% Tytanit (Ti main component) formula on the leaves Pastinaca sativa L. stressed with Cu and Cu + Mn and Tytanit (0.04% and 0.4%) for 24, 48 and 72 h, Peucedanum verticillare Koch, stressed with Cu and Cu + Ti (24, 48, 72 h). The volatile oils content and composition in plants stressed with metal ions solutions depends on many factors. Among them one should mention the method of application (leaves’ fertilization, direct effect), their concentrations, the time of exposition and age of plants exposed to the stress. The reactions of particular plant species to the experimental stress varied.
The study aimed to determine agronomic characteristics and essential oil components of different basil ecotypes in semi-arid climatic conditions of South Eastern Anatolia, Diyarbakir, Turkey. Two-year harvest data about fresh and dry herb yield, dry leaf yield, essential oil content and its components from the plants of year 2015 and 2016 was analyzed in this study. Essential oil components were detected by gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The resulting outcomes demonstrated that both ecotypes and harvests had important effects on fresh and dry herb, dry leaf yield and essential oil contents of sweet basil. The highest dry leaf yield was noted from green leafy ecotypes and from second harvest stage. Twenty-three constituents were detected in the essential oil of O. basilicum ecotypes. The main components of basil essential oil were linalool, methyl chavicol, neral, geranial and methyl cinnamate that differed according to ecotypes and harvests during experimental years 2015 and 2016. Purple leafy basil ecotypes were determined as linalool rich, while greenish leaf ecotypes were abundant in methyl chavicol. Silbe – green ecotype contains higher neral and geranial levels than the other ecotypes. It was concluded that basil plant could be grown successfully and harvested two or more times to prefer for maximum dry leaf yield and essential oil contents under semi-arid climatic conditions.
