The price paid by western countries for their material well-being is exorbitant: extremely high amounts of chemicals applied in agriculture have resulted in a decreased immunity to diseases, especially to cancer. As a consequence, people want to go away from advanced technologies and immerse in wild nature, still occurring in Central Europe. That is why contacts with this region are sought, including those with Poland. In summer 1993, a pilot EAT (Ecological Agriculture and Tourism) project was established. Under this project people come to stay in farms where ecological methods of food production are applied. This project is implemented by Amsterdam — based ECEAT (European Centre for Ecological Agriculture and Tourism) foundation; an ECEAT branch has been established in Poland. Last year there were over 400 holiday makers in 90 farms cooperating with EAT. A contact adress for Poland is also provided.
