Tomato juice is one of the most often produced vegetable juices in Poland. Growing consumption of the tomato juices is the result of theirs fresh taste, stimulating of appetite and big content of biologically active components as carotenoids, vitamins and mineral ingredients. Tomato juices are good source of lycopene and ß-carotene, which are the main antioxidants scavenging free radicals. In the paper, quality control of selected components of the tomato juices from Warsaw market was evaluated. It was estimated the content of solid soluble, sugars, ash, L-ascorbic acid, carotenoids and lycopene. Moreover it was measured acidity and capacity to scavenge the DPPH• radicals. On the basis of the research work it was confirmed that all tasted tomato juices met the requirements of the Polish Standard [14]. Although the content of biologically active components was varied, their quantity was strongly correlated with the capacity to scavenge the DPPH• radicals.
