The majority of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa is employed in agriculture. Nevertheless, the productivity of the sector is relatively low in comparison with other regions of the world. Based on convergence theory, technology transfer can enhance growth. However, the effective transfer of technology requires a certain absorption capacity from the recipient. Based on the qualitative research on cassava production in Congo Brazzaville, we identified key factors that influence the transfer process. These factors have been divided into four key areas: market, institutions, technology, and social capability. Cassava production value chain in Ignie region served as a case study for the evaluation of technology transfer absorptive capacity in Congo agriculture. We learned that the lack of agro-technical education, shortages in infrastructure, unavailability of business services, and market structure are among the main barriers of the intensification of technology use in agriculture.
In Slovakia, the transfer of technologies is supported by the National Support System for Technology Transfer. This system also includes different institutions and organizations such as: the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, the National Centre for Science and Technology Popularization, the Patent Information Centre, clusters, technology parks, innovation centers and the like. Activities of mentioned institutions are directed to raising awareness of the protection of intellectual property and technology transfer in economic and social practice. Without the use of marketing activities, however, these efforts are not likely to succeed. The subject of my paper will be to highlight the current trends in marketing, specifically in the areas of marketing communications strategies.
Subject and purpose of work: The subject matter of this paper includes selected examples of tools applied in systems analysis and strategic analysis in relation to the influence of their results on the forms of cooperation between business entities. The study is aimed at provoking a deeper thought on the outcomes of the lack of a system-based approach on the effects of cooperation, and consequently at reducing the negative experience arising from the lack of understanding of the conditions affecting the expected results. Materials and methods: This publication is an overview of the issue based on the interpretation and synthesis of the available literature on the subject. Results: The author suggests that the specific conditions, starting from the impact of the broad geopolitical surroundings, the current government policy, legal regulations, culture circles, market development stage or a partner’s place in the production chain, through customs, procedures, processes, intra-organisational standards, affect not only the culture of the organisation itself, but also its reputation and financial result. Conclusions: The influence of the new “virtual” sphere of economic contacts, as a vital element of strategic analysis, was stressed.
