Products based on different strains of entomopathogenic fungi are now being used in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. Compatibility studies of chemical and biological control agents are necessary to be able to give proper recommendations for their integrated use. The effect of three insecticides based on imidacloprid, spinosad and abamectin, and three fungicides based on chlorothalonil, azoxystrobin and thiophanate-methyl on the activity of the following entomopathogenic fungi: Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschn.) sensu lato, Beauveria bassiana (Bals.-Criv.) Vuill., Acremonium sp. was tested under laboratory conditions. Tests of the influence of the pesticides on growth and production of conidia were performed. From this study, we concluded that all tested insecticides can be applied together with fungus B. bassiana products in IPM programs. They even stimulate sporulation of this fungus at the recommended dose, 0.5 of the recommended dose and 1.5 times the recommended dose. In the case of fungicides we observed inhibition of growth and sporulation of B. bassiana and reduction of growth and sporulation of other species of fungi.
B-Raf is a multi- drug target serine/threonine protein kinase, involved in the transduction of mitogenic signals from the cell membrane to the nucleus. Mutated B-Raf causes overactive downstream signaling via MEK and ERK, leading to excessive cell proliferation and survival, independent of growth factors causing cancers such as Pancreatic carcinoma. A novel bi-aryl urea- Sorafenib, is a potent inhibitor of Raf-1 that has been approved for the treatment of a number of cancers including pancreatic cancer. The present investigation was designed to identify the potential off-targets of Sorafenib which could be responsible for its reported undesirable side effects. Molecular docking was used to test the efficacy of structural analogs of Sorafenib against B-Raf using FlexX and it was found that the analog with CID:10151557 had a high potency with minimum number of clashes, low lipophilic score and high match score, similar to Sorafenib. To identify the potential off-target/s of Sorafenib, macromolecular surface similarity detection software MEDIT SA MED-SuMo was used and the results obtained were validated through literature. The possible off-targets obtained belonged to the family of protein tyrosine kinases i.e. VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3, platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta, Flt-3, and c-KIT, each of which were docked with Sorafenib. Based on high docking scores and similarity with B-Raf for its binding site interacting residues, it was concluded that Vascular endothelial growth factor tyrosine kinase receptor (VEGFR) is a potential off-target of anti-cancer chemotherapeutic agent Sorafenib.
Results of 3-years investigations on changes in the activity of nitrate reductase and the content of nitrates, water soluble sugars, and starch in leaves of plants of two pea cultivars treated with Ambusz 25 EC (permetrin) and Ripcord 40 EC (cypermetrin) were presented. It was found that the applied insecticides brought about the greatest changes in the activity or nitrate reductase and in the content of nitrates. Of the two cultivars investigated Beniaminek manifested a stranger susceptibility to the applied insecticides. Side effects of pyretroids depend on the stages of plant development, the greatest effect being observed at the stage of technological maturity of pea seeds.
The laboratory experiments tested the influence of selected pesticides on the symbiotic efficiency and nitrogenase activity of Rhizobium teguminosarum bv. trifolii KGL, Sinorhizobium melilotii Bp and Bradyrhizobium sp. Ornithopus B bacteria entering into symbiosis with clover, lucerne and serradella, respectively. The results obtained indicate that the pesticides used in the experiments (Funaben T seed dressing and Pivot 100SL herbicide) caused reduced nitrogenase activity in active strains tested. In addition, a toxic effect of the applied pesticides on the nodulation and root growth of the tested plants was observed.
