Poland is classified in Europe as a country with scarce inland water resources. The per capita water amount is 1,600 m³ per year, ranking Poland 26th in Europe. Wielkopolska is the scarcest region in terms of water resources, both in Poland and Europe. Poland's lowest precipitation rate occurs here, on average between 450 and 650 mm, and even reaches below 350 mm in „dry” years. The hydrological situation in Wielkopolska is presented using the Kalisz Poviat as an example.
