The lipophilicity of series of phenolic acids has been determined by two experimental techniques: TLC of commercial cellulose plates with methanol-water-acetic acid as mobile phase, and spectrophotomeric UV/VIS kinetic method. These results were compared with theoretical calculations according Broto's, Viswandhan's and Crippen's methods. Obtained results shown good correlation between lipophilicity determined by use experimental techniques and theoretically calculated values. It suggest that calibration equations RMW vs. logPtheoret, for congeneric series of compounds may be used for estimation of liphophilicity investigated compounds (logP) just on the stage of their chromatographic separation in plant extracts.
