The main part of the experiments perfomed in RZD Pruszowice in a period from 1987 to 1990 years (january - april) on 24 cows of black-white race divided into 2 or 3 groups and additionally in WOPR Łosiow on 180 cows. Cows in groups received maize silage and meadow hay or silage from a wilted grass or wilted red colver or alfalfa. All silages obtained good estimations in a Zimmer-Flieg scale. Mineral composition in silages was more profitable than in hay. The carotene contents in rations with wilted silage participation were 2-3 times higher in comparative to hay rations. Mean milk yield was 14-18 L of FCM. Silages of mixtures from wilted grass and grass from papilionanaceous or from red clover and alfalfa are good instead of hay in dairy cows fed forage with the large part of maize. It was observed good productive and initial parameters. On the other hand hay can replace partly (50 %) by silage from wilted grass without negative consequences. Total hay exchange by silage from wilted grass caused impcrticible organism acidifying - blood pH was reduced from 0,01 to 0,02.
