The most rapid growth in length of tench in Lake Pamvotida occurred during the first year of life (7.9 cm), moderating to approximately 2.8 cm at the end of the fourth year of life, and then becoming constant at about 2.0 cm per year. Both sexes tench became sexually mature in the third year of life and its life span was 11 years. The mean absolute fecundity was 184 415 ± 21 212 eggs kg-1 of body weight with a mean diameter of 0.9 mm. Spawning for this species, in the study area, occurs during May and June at a water temperature of 18-20°C.
