First record of ectoparasitic insects on the Canarian Houbara Bustard (Gruiformes: Otididae)

Data on an infestation of ectoparasites on a Canarian Houbara Bustard Chlamydotis undulata fuerteventurae Rothschild et Hartert, 1894 are presented for the first time. Two insect groups were discovered: Icosta (Rhyponotum) pilosa (Macquart, 1843) (Hippoboscidae, Diptera) and a possibly unnamed species of Philopteridae (Phthiraptera) closely allied to Otidoecus houbarae (Barthélemy, 1836). For the latter, a DNA-barcode is presented. The philopterid was found in a phoretic relationship with the hippoboscid.

A new feather mite species of the genus Neumannella Trouessart, 1916 (Analgoidea, Dermoglyphidae) from the Red-winged Tinamou Rhynchotus rufescens (Temminck, 1815) (Aves, Tinamiformes) with remarks to the evolution of host-parasite associations of the genus

Neumannella skorackii, a new species of the feather mite family Dermoglyphidae (Acari, Astigmata) is described from the Red-winged Tinamou Rhynchotus rufescens (Temminck, 1815) (Aves, Tinamiformes) from Paraguay and a key to all known species of the genus is provided. The phylogenetic relationships (MP analysis of 25 morphological characters) between Neumannella species along with the evolutionary history of host-parasite associations revealed by Jungle reconciliation method are reconstructed. Relatively low cospeciation contribution to the recent host-parasite associations is discovered.

The data on host-parasite associations between Hemiptera and terrestrial Parasitengona mites are summarized and supplemented with new records. The species names of parasitic mites are verified according to the most recent data. Altogether, representatives of 26 parasitengone genera are known to parasitize bugs. The systematics of the hemipteran hosts is provided in the form of appendix.
