Qualitative analysis of algae, including microhabitats and vascular vegetation in a spring niche, together with basic physical and chemical characteristics is presented. 175 diatom taxa as well as taxa of macroalgae and vascular plants were determined in the spring niche, and the community types were defined. Seasonal variability of diatom communities was observed. The influence of a flood as a catastrophe on the community of diatoms and macroalgae was noticed.
The distribution of staphylinid (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) associations in the coastal variety of coniferous forest type (Empetro-nigri Pinetum) is described over the last century. The study area (UTM - XA56) has been subject to very limited anthropopressure and it may be, therefore, considered as a nearly unchanged environment. Thirteen distinguishing species were identified in the stable entomocoenosis; they should constituted at least 20% of the total number of specimens in the community. The staphylinid association was named „Tachyporus corpulentus - Sepedophilus marshami - Tachyporus transversalis ”. Its full description was based on four attributes: dominance structure, species fidelity, microsite preferences and geographical distribution.
The paper presents data on the distribution of 24 species of tineid moths in Poland. The data were obtained based on a few methods of collecting of moths, mainly with use of artificial light and rearing of adults from decaying wood and bracket fungi inhabited by larvae. Nearly a dozen of species were recorded from particular regions of Poland for the first time. The study also revealed the new aspects of biology and ecology of a few species.
Eighteen species of Bledius have been recorded from the Podlasie, Lublin Upland, Roztocze and Sandomierz Lowland (E Poland). Some of them (B. crassicollis, B. defensus, B. femoralis, B. pallipes, B. procerulus, B. agricultor, B. pygmaeus, B. terebrans) are very rare in Poland, and most of them are new for these regions. Some data on their enviromental preferences and life cycle are also provided.
