The aim of the study was to examine seasonal distribution of the vitamin C available from its principal sources for the six socio-economic household groups in Poland in 1996 and to identify the periods of relative abundance and scarcity. To meet this goal original calculations of the authors showing vitamin C daily supply per person by these groups were used. These calculations were based on the results of the household budget surveys conducted in Poland in 1996 and on the nutrient conversion factors developed by the authors on the basis of the national food composition tables. Results of the study can serve as a crude indication of seasonal variations in the actual vitamin C intakes.
