Laparocholecystectomy was done on 4 Large White pigs, 20 kg b.w. The animals were observed for 5 months. Clinical, hematological, biochemical and anatomopathological examinations were performed. Blood samples for hematological and biochemical examinations were taken five times; once before and 4 times after cholecystectomy. The following hematological parameters were determined: hemoglobin content, red and white blood cell counts, packed cell volume. Biochemical examinations included Na, K and Cl levels, glucose content, total protein and protein fractions, AIAT, AspAT and LDH activity. Hematological and biochemical indices after an initial deviation from their values before the operation returned to normal reference range after the operation. Cholecystectomy only slightly affected liver parenchyma. A local pachynsis of box fibers and proliferation of hepatocytes in few hepatic lobules were noted.
