The basic objective of the research was to investigate and determine variations in the physico-chemical properties of the arable layer (Ap) of calcareous soils which belong to the group of lithogenic soils. The above objective was achieved by determining the following physical soil parameters: static and dynamic water resistance of soil aggregates as well as the state of their secondary aggregation following static and dynamic action of water. The above mentioned physico-mechanical properties were determined for wet aggregate models, wet aggregate models subjected to freezing and defreezing and dry "ones", i.e., brought from the appropriate level of moisture to the air-dry state. In order to obtain a comprehensive picture of the properties analysed in the study and their complex evaluation, samples were collected in such a way as to represent the most important and common groups of Rendzinas occurring in Poland. Hence, the material sampled for laboratory analyses developed from various parental rocks.

W pracy wykorzystano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w Zakładzie Uprawy Gleby IUNG w Jelczu-laskowicach oraz zagraniczne dane literaturowe. Podjęto próbę wyjaśnienia związków występujących między niektórymi właściwościami gleby w warstwy ornej i podornej oraz ich wpływ na plonowanie roślin. Zależności te powiązano z przebiegiem opadów. Scharakteryzowano reakcje różnych roślin w zależności od stopnia zwięzłości warstwy podornej. Stwierdzono występowanie zależności między krytycznymi wartościami gęstości objętościowej oraz zwięzłości gleby a wilgotnością gleby, zawartością części pylastych oraz iłu koloidalnego w warstwie podornej.

The weed seed bank in the ploughing layer (0-25) cm deep) of loess soils, located at top, slope and slope foot, is presented in the papaer. Soil samples, taken just affer the harvest of winter and spring cereals, in the Nałęczów surroundings (east-middle Poland) were the investigative material. It was proved that the most of weed seeds and fruits were the winter cereals bocated at the slopes and slopes foot. The diaspors of short-lived weeds were dominant III-V degree of stability in the soil covered all sculpture elements.
